Difficult Words

Difficult words.

Sometimes they just have to be spoken.

Sometimes truth is not easy to receive OR to give.

Sometimes the changes we need and want most in the lives of the people we love only come when we have the courage to say the hard things.

Sometimes saying the hard things means we risk being rejected.

But sometimes... sometimes saying the hard things opens the door for restoration.

Sometimes what comes next is redemption.

Sometimes you get to experience a deep love and a deep forgiveness - on both sides of the fence.

Sometimes peace comes and rest is a by-product.

Sometimes tears produce beauty and silence, repentance.

Sometimes the hard things - the difficult words - save what would otherwise be lost.

Praise God for His timing and His wisdom.

The painful thing is sometimes our protection. And our freedom.

This weekend was such a blend of things. God allowed me the grace to let go of our past, speak our truth in the present, and have peace for our future.

The words weren't easy to speak. Nor were they easy to receive. But they were a long time coming and necessary for growth - mine and his.
